Let's recap my last few weeks.
The apartment complex is doing maintenance on the apartments. For the most part, this appears to be cosmetic in nature, as all they're doing is pulling off the old siding and replacing it with new. Nothing bordering on preventive maintenance appears to be going on.

I've had a portable toilet within 30 feet of my door for the last three weeks, baking in the sun and making anything resembling breathing unpleasant when exiting and entering my apt.

There's been constant noise from about 8am to about 6pm every day. Hammer, hammer, hammer, clang, hammer.

Contractors came in to 'reset' my sunroom windows (had they crashed?) and managed to snap the legs off of one of my tables. No, I've no idea how.

There's been no parking anywhere NEAR my place except on VERY sporadic occasions or late in the evening, WELL past the time I return from work, as the parking lot is taken up by wood planks, sawhorses, and the cars of 50 contractors.

Yesterday, in a fit of brilliance, the contractors cut the power to my AC and then put new walls up over the cut cord. It was 92F in my apartment last night. Luckily, threats of legal action were enough to impress upon maintenance that their usual policy of "'My AC doesn't work' is not an emergency maintenance request" didn't stop some poor guy from having to drive all the way in from Ackworth to fiddle with things in the middle of the night. What he ended up doing was wiring up my neighbor's power to my AC unit (yay... free AC) with temporary pieces of an extension cord so I wouldn't melt. I still ended up sleeping with a bottle full of ice clutched to my chest, though. And rater fitfully at that.

All in all, if you've been looking at the River Preserve apartments in Atlanta, or its sister complexes, the River Park, and the River P... uh... Picnic? Plantation? Patio? Something else with a P... do yourself a favour. Look elsewhere. Whereas Sentinel, the previous owners, were somewhat lax in their maintenance duties, the new owners, Greystar, have been close to criminally negligent, happily breaching their own lease agreement in order to make themselves look more upscale.

I had that same problem a few years ago. My advice is to start a petition with your neigbors about the neglect. If enough people complain, most housing units work harder to make you all happy.

Yep, sounds like it's time to move. Both times I was looking I used the same lady from a free appartment locator place and she was awesome. I told her what I wanted and she found several places for me to see and even negotiated rent specials. Let me know if you want her number...
